Too Much Time On Their Hands
Y'know, I've been having a pretty good run at work lately. I've managed to get Visual Studio.NET 2005 Beta 2 installed, and I've been migrating my partially-complete project over to that with some success. Everything has been just rosy.
But it doesn't matter how good a time you're having, or how much ass you're kicking, there's always one person who wants to bring you down.
Today it was none other than the gatehouse guard at my place of work. As I drove back in after our now-regular lunchtime ping-pong session, he stopped me and gave me a dressing down for "excessive speed" as I left the premises an hour earlier. Keep in mind that I probably went past the gatehouse at 20 or 30 km/h rather than 10, but there was no other traffic and it's not like he had to dive out of the way of my car, A-Team style.
He then proceeded to tell me that he had given my boss a call to tell him. Fucking great.
Obviously the guy has had a bad run in Windows Solitaire and felt the need to take it out on the first passer-by he saw that day. Well done, sir! You have successfully invoked my ire! Gatehouse guards rock!

Surprising that he was able to know it was you driving out the gate if you were going that fast!

Cold! But funny! If your boss makes an issue of it, then you have problems. Otherwise...eh!

Yes, luckily my boss was ok about it.
It just irks me that this guy would take the power-trip approach to the 'problem' (as if it *was* a problem!). He could have pulled me aside quietly and let me know what I had done - instead he has to ring my boss and then basically *gloat* to me that he had done so.
How to win friends and influence people!
