Mad Props!

I was just playing around with images from comics.org, and it looks like they might be allowing remote linking to images again!

I'll test it by linking to an image here. If this works, I can probably reintroduce the "download images from GCD" menu item!

I've been really missing this feature and can't wait to use it again. Can you believe it's almost been a year or so without it?[:'(]

Update, Ven! 1.0.3.1 is up and it includes the feature once more! Rejoice!

Just downloaded the update and it works! I can't get my thumbnails to load though. Any ideas? In my options 'Save Thumbnails' is checked.

Does the GCD not save their images as jpg's anymore or something to that affect?

Are you just using the default skin, Ven?

Don't forget that with the upgrade from 1.0.2.x to 1.0.3.x you will lose any thumbnails you did have. After doing the "Get Title Images" or "Reload Issue Thumbnails" thing, though, they should work just fine (mine do).

Gimme some more info and we'll work it out.

I'm using the default skin, but it doesn't work with any of them. If I use the "Get title image" feature, I can't get anything to work. Maybe I just don't get where to get the GCD # and issue width, etc. I have to cut and paste the image url from GCD into the image url under properties to make the link work, but no thumbnail appears. I realize I lost my previous thumbnails, but these are all new. The only ones I tried were Ultimate Spiderman #1 (GCD 69625) & 99 (GCD #301323). What am I doing wrong?

Not sure what you're doing wrong there Ven (if anything). Maybe it's a proxy issue or something. Can you get to the web without a proxy? Comicster wouldn't know about any proxy server you might require.

Yeah, I can get to the web without a proxy. The issue might be my not exactly knowing where to the ge GCD info from. Are you pulling the GCD #, image size and issue width all from the url or another source?

It's a bit more complex now that they're linking to a page displaying the image, rather than to the image itself. Hit the help button at the top-left of the "Get Title Images" dialog and have a read through that page for more info.

Once you have a cover scan up in your browser, you can right-click on the image and select "properties" to show its filename (the jpg itself). That's how you can determine the "width" of the filename (ie if the filename ends with _0023.jpg then it's 4 digits).

Excellent! It certainly is a handy little feature. Hope the GCD guys don't get too annoyed at us using their images (although if the skin features thumbnails rather than linking, you're only using the bandwidth once).
