    Character Universe Discussion

I wanna stimulate some discussion here about how we should represent a character's universe.

I've been collecting Exiles in trade-paperback form, and the mish-mash of characters from different realities in that book is really confusing when entering issues into Comicster.

For example, "Blink" in Exiles is Blink from the Age of Apocalypse storyline, right? So ... does that mean that she's Blink (AoA) in Comicster, or Blink (Exiles)? Is it the same character or not? When the timeline diverged and she was ripped out of her own reality, does she become a different character?

There are characters in Exiles that (I believe) haven't appeared anywhere else, like Spider (the 'evil' spider-man/symbiote guy). Is he Spider (Exiles)? Or is he just Spider?

For that matter ... when the Exiles visit a universe that we've already seen (esp. the 616 mainstream reality), are the characters they're interacting with part of 616 any more, or only part of the Exiles reality?

I hope you see what I'm getting at here. It's bloody tough with a series like this that relies on alternate versions of characters for its stories!

I would have to say that it would be Blink (AoA), as she would be appearing in some of those actual AoA books.

Spider would be (Universe X), since that's where he is from.

    more later.

    Ah! Is that that guy?

Although I guess "Earth X" would be a better universe name than "Universe X", since there were a whole series of 'em and that's where it started.

Ok - I've done some reading about this Spider guy.

The Wikipedia article on Weapon X says that "The Spider" is a version of Spider-Man from "Earth-15", and is Peter Parker merged with the Carnage symbiote.

If you follow through to the Spider-Man article, it says that the character in Earth X was "The Spiders Man" and is (obviously) a distinct character from Peter Parker.

Dunno how accurate these are. I don't know whether I like the "Earth-15" designation, either - it's a bit hard to tell at a glance which is which.

According to Spiderfan.org, this spider-man is considered as part of the "X-verse". Check it out here http://www.spiderfan.org/comics/xverse.html. Hope this helps you decide what to call it, even though it really just adds to the mix , sorry. Hmm
