Anyone still on Windows 2000 or 9x?

I'm considering bringing Comicster up to .NET 3.5, which is only supported on Windows XP and above (Vista, 2003 etc).

Anyone still using Comicster on Windows 2000 or on one of the older, 9x versions of Windows? Would it inconvenience anyone if I upgrade?

I might discontinue updates for the existing one and split off to a new installer for the 3.5 version, so nobody would update automatically, instead having to uninstall and install from this new source. What do you guys think of that idea?

I think you're in good shape to kill 9x for sure.

2k I think in the states here is a pretty low usage rate except for one or two odd locations. It's other parts of the world where it's still in use like it's only 2 or 3 years old and the greatest thing since Win ME.

I would say to kill 'em both and be done with it.

All of my computers are XP and above, for Windows. Other than that, just GNU/Linux. So... it won't bother me.

I think the "new installer" is a good idea.

OK, so the plan right now is to make a new build of Comicster (which I will call version 1.1.0.0) and deploy it to a different place. That means that you would have to "opt in" to this version by uninstalling your current Comicster and installing this new one, but if you didn't, you would no longer receive updates.

If that sounds reasonable then I'll go ahead with this plan. It'll be a while before I get to it 'coz I'm going to the US for two weeks this Saturday (w00t)!
